In May 1932, the Spilliaert family moved in Ostend one last time.1 Once again, they ended up close to Leopold Park, at the beginning of Poststraat.
This street was named after the impressive postal building, built between 1902 and 1906, which was destroyed in the Second World War.2 The Spilliaerts lived here for just over three years. In 1935, the family moved permanently to Brussels, mainly because their daughter Madeleine began taking piano lessons at the conservatory. Today, the site where the house at number 1 once stood is occupied by apartment buildings.
